Devlog_10-22_Beta

Hello,
This is my beta build for, "Artifical Judgement"

I found that when casting for my different characters, I quickly ran into an issue. If my story was supposed to take place in a society similar to ours and involve government insitutions, there has to be more than children populating the world.

Therefore, I managed to make it down to the suburbs to do a quick photoshoot:

My parents were fantastic actors for me, even when they really didn't want to be photographed.

I refined my process of making these images in photoshop as well as taking multiple background pictures in my suburb home:

The other chunk of my times was spent on writing the rest of the plot, defining characters, and playing with different ideas. I made several large shifts due to logic and theme. The major one would be shifting the role of the player from "judging" cases themselves, to "verifying" them.

I felt that in this world's logic, while the attitude towards these cases is still nonchalant and allows for random citizens to partake, the government wouldn't quite put a citizen in such a position of authority. It also makes more sense when involving outside actors and special interests, as instead of strong arming someone to change a conviction through a different judgement they have to argue for, they can simply have a citizen "invalidate" evidence. I also did some mild research into the differences between the human brain and AI and am planning on using that data to flesh out scenarios and ground the world's logic.

Unfortunately, as the majority of this work was done on paper and pencil due to my eyes undergoing severe strain (to the point where I've had to start using eye drops regularly), not a ton of what I made was implemented in-engine. Rather, I have a large collection of materials and roadmaps. I still have some cast photos to take and sounds to make, but for the most part, my objective for the next few weeks is to implement everything and build it in RenPy.
